Another Japanese noodle house, right? Correct! Having tried Marugame Udon twice, I could say it is worth your money. Sulit, indeed! Before you dash with your hungry tummies in this restaurant, let’s check it out, shall we?
The first time I knew about this, my dear friend Jonah, told me, “I went to lunch here and there was a long line so I checked it out and it was great!” So we ate there and it was worth it. Yes, the term is worth it. It’s not too cheap, not too expensive (Of course, we always consider the price when we eat unless we’re already multi-millionaires, but going there haha) but satisfyingly worth the time and the bills. The second time I went there, I invited my friends from Smart Start Session since we had an event at Anytime Fitness BGC (it’s just across Marugame Udon!) and it’s still the same feeling.
I still love it, no more, no less.
Too much talking, Jezze. Let’s judge!
1. Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you’re going at lunch time or peak hours, expect that there would be long lines. The good thing is, we don’t have to wait too long because the line moves fast enough. I don’t know if the people inside have consideration or the staff are quick enough. Nevertheless, it’s workable. Don’t go there if you have just less than a 30-minute break. However, the space inside was not so wide, that’s why if it’s a blockbuster, sorry you have to wait outside. But still, a lot of customers mean something crazy is really going on inside, right?
2. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I couldn’t eat something too expensive and the serving is just the size of my thumb or something too cheap but is just full of cooking oil and flour. I think you wouldn’t like that too, right? But Marugame Udon proved to me that you’ll never ask for your money back (just take it and give me a noodle!), your cravings would be satisfied and your tummies would be fulfilled.
So actually before writing this article I searched what Marugame is. Apparently it’s a city in the Kagawa prefecture of Japan and of course, you know that udon means noodles. To let you know more, here’s a snippet on its official website:
And my all-time favorite?
The reason why I rated it not as 5 stars because I want more dishes with veggies. Most of the sides are fried food (even the veggies) so perhaps if it’s possible, I hope they could add fruits as well just to balance, and to give more options.
3. Customer Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Not much for customer service from staff since this is not your typical restaurant here in the Philippines wherein you get served but you have to do your thing before food goes into your mouth. However, the staff were quick and accommodating as well. I promote these kinds of restaurants because it enhances one’s discipline even just for getting food. I don’t really think we need too much people to serve us, right?
Took me less than 5 minutes to quickly pick my food. Here are the 4 steps you need to follow before digesting that udon!
The fifth step? Munch!
4. Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As we know, BGC has been an area to hangout with friends, families, and colleagues especially if you’re working near the area. It’s located at High Street just across Fully Booked. Not much explaining anymore I bet you’ll find it without getting your maps. But here’s for your reference only.
5. Overall Dining Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.5!
Honestly, I don’t want to post something that is not worth recommending, and we would always love to see positive things (because you wouldn’t spend too much time googling “restaurants to avoid” as compared to “restaurants for lunch” “noodle restaurants” and so on). I think I’ll be back here again with other people who haven’t tried it yet and I just love how they feel fulfilled after eating! It makes me satisfied as well.
That’s it folks! Hope your tummies are ready for meals!
